Keine schlechte Idee. Aber vielleicht anders, als die denken.

Eine Petition fordert, waffenfreie Zonen in Ohio abzuschaffen. Eine solche waffenfreie Zone ist zum Beispiel die Quicken Loans Arena, wo der nationale Parteitag der Republikaner stattfinden wird. So wie die Republikaner grad drauf sind, könnte das interessant werden.

Sebald lesen, der für die Autorin eine wichtige Rolle spielt, aber dank der Unfähigkeit deutscher Verlage müsste ich dafür auf die englische Übersetzung zurückgreifen, weil’s nämlich nur die als E-Books gibt.

My First Rifle – Kinder posieren mit Waffen

Für ihr Foto-Projekt My First Rifle reiste die niederländische Fotografin An-Sofie Kesteleyn in die USA. Dort porträtierte sie Kinder in ihren Kinderzimmern. Twist: Die Kinder posierten mit eigenen Waffen. Sogenannte Cricket Rifles gibt es in speziellen Ausführungen für Kinder. Damit die Kleinen möglichst früh lernen, mit Waffen umzugehen.

Außerdem bat Kesteleyn die Kinder noch, ihre größte Angst auf einen Zettel zu schreiben, etwas, wogegen sie sich mit ihrer Waffe verteidigen würden.

Die so entstandenen Fotos sind ziemlich creepy, aber unbestreitbar interessant. Der selbstverständliche Umgang mit Waffen bereits im Kindesalter ist uns fremd. Die Bilder wirken überspitzt, übertrieben. Dabei sind sie das kaum.
