Der Spaß liegt in der Selbsterkenntnis.
2017 ist musikalisch bisher ein echt gutes Jahr. Lorde – Melodrama. Aldous Harding – Party. Sevdaliza – ISON. Alles großartige Alben, die ich rauf und runter hören könnte. Auch andere Künstlerinnen haben gute Musik veröffentlicht. Mein Sommerhit ist bisher aber der hier: Ah Mer Ah Su – Meg Ryan.
Wunderbar abgespaced. Grimes ft. Janelle Monáe – Venus Fly. Das offizielle Musikvideo. Regisseurin: Grimes. Ein absolutes Kunstwerk. Warum hat das nur so wenig Views? Ah, weil’s neu ist.

Heute ist ein Abend, an dem ich Musik höre. Für gewöhnlich spamme ich damit all meine Timelines zu. Heute mach ich stattdessen mal eine Playlist.
Anfangen müsste die heutige Playlist mit Junius. Hab ich als Sponsored Post bei Facebook bekommen und sogar geklickt. Post-Metal klang spannend. Julius leider nicht so. Rolling Stone schreibt Sachen wie: „A perfect hybrid of Neurosis and the Smiths.“ Pfff. Könnt ihr überspringen.
Über Junius kam ich auf Hum. Weil die Hum als Haupteinfluss nennen. Stars ist nett. Mehr nicht.
Jetzt will ich aber endlich wieder richtigen Post-Metal hören. Cave In sind da eine meiner Go-To-Bands. Cave In sind überhaupt fast die einzige Band, der ich verzeihe, dass sie von Album zu Album softer wird. Aber es ist auch selten so schlüssig. Weil ich jetzt bei Cave In hängen geblieben bin, hier ein kleiner Abriss ihres bisherigen Schaffens (mit Auslassungen). ^^
Beyond Hypothermia. Ganz alt (wohl 1997), ganz großartig. Ruppig, mit ziemlich kompromisslosem Schreigesang, aber auch schon ganz zu Anfang einem Hang zu melodischen, hymnischen Parts.
Fast Forward ins Jahr 2000, zum Album „Jupiter“. Cave In klingen deutlich anders. Anchor schrammt knapp an einem Poppunk-Songvorbei.
Aber die Songs auf Jupiter sind sehr verschieden. Bei Big Riff erkennt man gesanglich noch deutlich mehr Ähnlichkeiten zu früheren Veröffentlichungen. Zugleich sind Cave In epischer als jemals zuvor. Man merkt einen gewissen Isis-Einfluss. (Fundstück: Pitchfork hat das Album auf unterhaltsam zu lesende Weise, komplett verrissen.)
2003 dann „Antenna“. Unbestreitbar das kommerziellste Album von Cave In. Kleine Härten werden höchstens hin und wieder als Stilmittel eingesetzt. Antenna ist voll gewollt großer Melodien und dominiert von klarem Gesang. Viel zu viel Pose, aber ich mag die Melodien. Pitchfork bespricht das Album auch wieder. Fast ein bisschen positiver. Fast.
Als Hörbeispiel Stained Silver. Ich mag Antenna, war nach Jupiter mein zweites Album von Cave In. Ich mag es noch lieber oder besser leichter, seit ich die Vorgängeralben kenne und die Entwicklung ausnahmsweise mal nachvollziehen kann.
Jetzt trotzdem mal was Anderes. Oder Verwandtes, aber ohne großes Herumgerede. Converge in Hochform.
Es folgen 12 Minuten Punch. Live. Weil ich Live-Mitschnitte sehr mag und der äußerst sehenswert ist. Punch sind eine äußerst aggressive Hardcore-Punkband. Oder wohl leider: waren.
Zum Schlafen noch The Saddest Landscape im Jugendclub Linse. Großartiges Konzert.
Klang live leider nicht ganz so. Zumindest nicht, wenn man direkt vorn an der Bühne stand. Hätte mehrmals fast den Gitarrenhals ins Gesicht bekommen. Aber war super.

Alle reden über Radiohead. Dabei haben Xiu Xiu grad in unfassbar gutes, verstörendes Video mit Musik (so muss man es ehrlicherweise nennen) rausgehauen, aber das geht völlig unter. 42k Views, mal im Ernst. Für Ungeduldige: Ab 7:10 wird es noch spannender.
